Abstract:

Objective: This study was conducted with the aim of evaluating the basic first aid knowledge levels of the Occupational Health and Safety Program sophomores. Materials and Methods: The universe of our study consists of students who are actively continuing their education in the 2nd grade in the Occupational Health and Safety Program of Gümüşhane University Gümüşhane Vocational School Property Protection and Security Department in the 2017-2018 academic year. The total sample size is 57 students. In the collection given, the first test form consists of basic first aid trainings, inter-training application studies, sample case studies and posttest form. Result: 23 women (40.4%) and 34 men (59.6%) occupational health and safety program sophomores participated in the study. According to the data, the knowledge level of the female participants was found to be high in the applications before and after first aid (t=¬¬-2,464:p=0,017). The rate of those who have received first aid training before was 43.9%, while the rate of those who have not received it was 56.1%. While the rate of those who had first aid intervention before was 29.8%, the rate of those who did not have been determined as 70.2% Conclusion: As a result of the study, it was seen how important the first and effective intervention to be made in occupational accidents that may occur in industrial areas is. The wrong application and information before the training has been eliminated.
