Abstract:

The Barter system is explained in some of the works in Turkish literature by using a completely incompatible terminology and by making conclusions that cannot be directly adapted to some of its own aspects. The aim of this study is to contribute theoretically to Turkish literature by examining the descriptions of some studies on the barter system, identifying points that cannot be directly matched with the system and assessing these points from a critical perspective. In this context, the study was first explained using a terminology that is considered to be more consistent in the barter system. Later, by examining the descriptions of some studies on the barter system, it was attempted to identify points that could not be directly compatible with the system. Finally, the points identified are divided into categories under the head of the findings and interpreted individually. According to the study, the statements subject to the examination are not fully consistent with the barter system’s own legal nature and the crediting principle.
