Abstract:

Discussions lead us to new horizons. From the struggle of different ideas, new and beautiful works are born. But if we can fix the ground of the discussion and the style of the discussion well, we can also good results without really leaving. As in the West, there have been various discussions about literary issues in our literature. In these, romanticism and realism discussions, known as the dream-truth discussion, occur almost simultaneously with the Western discussions. This debate is important in our literature as it is important to show how Western flows are evaluated, as it is important to show the quest for truth. A large portion of Tanzimat period artists pass through the training of the romantic stream. However, the artists of this time also know the realist stream. In the second generation of Tanzimat and especially in the Middle Generation, realist, even naturalist tendencies are seen. Beşir Fuat of the Middle Generation artists begins the discussion with a monograph of the tinted Victor Hugo, published in 1885. It appears that this long-death debate, after a while, has become a Hugo-Zola debate. Thus, around the book of Victor Hugo, a debate that passed into the history of Turkish literature as a dream-true debate and continued even after the death of Beşir Fuat.
