Abstract:

Hüseyin Nihal Atsız is one of the most important representatives of Turkism and Nationalism, born in Istanbul in 1905 and passed away in 1975, Atsız has witnessed the last years of the Ottoman state and the Republic period in his seventy year life. The turbulent socio-economic structure of the years he lived led to the development of his intellectual world. He is one of the leading figures of Turkism and nationalism. He has written many literary and academic works during his life. Throughout his life, he appears not only as an intellectual, but as someone who lives his ideas. He worked as a teacher in high schools for a long time. He has written studies about the Turkish education system due to his profession. In this study, the point of view of national education phenomenon is examined based on socio-cultural structure which affects Atsız’s educational views. Atsız’s views on ducation which are directly connected with the understanding of Turkism but which are in direct contrast to the modern understanding of education are presented. According to him, one of the most important stones of a society is youth. The aim should be to train hero, qualified, altruistic young people with a national goal. According to Atsız; It is necessary to educate Turkish youth with a talent that can create new wonders. The heroes grow only with the suggestion of the teachers who believe in heroism, and therefore, they have great duties. According to Atsız, the education of girls is as important as the education of the society. First of all, Turkish girls should be raised by thinking that they are Turkish mothers tomorrow. He sees the future of Turkish society in Turkish youth.
