Lots of varied assistive devices have been developed today by scientists and innovators who believe in the power of technology and intend to solve the problems of society. The various devices have different advantages and utility in the field of education. The knowledge of these technologies have not yet cascaded to all the stakeholders and essentially to the teachers for whom it is most important. The knowledge of availability of assistive technology, know how of using it and the places from where it can be procured is very limited amongst the teachers. This research study attempts to bring out this gap by means of a self-made tool i.e. A questionnaire called ‘Teachers’ Assistive Technology Awareness Questionnaire’(TATAQ). The study attempts to unfold if there exists any relationship between the Assistive technology awareness and other variables like educational qualification, gender, work experience, professional qualification and type of school. The results of the study show that the assistive technology awareness level is independent of the other variables and depends on one’s own interest and initiative to improve the pedagogical practices in the classroom.
