Hair disorders can be one of the manifestations of a multitude of systemic diseases. Hair disorders may be subdivided into three categories: hair loss, excess of hair and variations in hair colour. With many causes variying from hormonal diseases to aging, the hairloss as a title can be dividede into five main groups: anagen effluvium, telogen effluvium, destruction of hair follicles, miniaturization of hair follicles and hair shaft defects. Systemic diseases in which metabolic mechanisms mainly take role, are observed as colour changes in hair. Herein we discussed hair and hair conditions with related systemic diseases in groups. It is beneficial to evaluate hair diseases with knowledge of hair structure besides clinical observation for associating systemic diseases with metabolic mechanisms and further researches.
