Abstract:

The aim of this study is to determine the relationship between students’s perceptions of the classroom assessment enviroment and their metacognitive oriented classrom enviroment perceptions by using canonical correlation analysis. Correlational research design, which is one of the quantitative research methods, was used in the research. The sample of the study consists of 492 secondary school students. The data were collected by “Students' Perceptions of the Classroom Assessment Environment Scale (SPCAES)” and Metacognitive Orientation Learning Environment Scale-Science (MOLES-S)". Canonical Correlation analysis was used in the analysis of the data obtained from the research. As a result of the research, it was determined that there were strong positive correlations between the learning-oriented assessment environment perception and metacognitive perception of the classroom environment sub-dimensions, while there were opposite and non-significant relationships with the performance-oriented assessment environment perceptions.
