Giriş: Özel gereksinimli (ÖG) bir çocuğun katılmasıyla gereksinimleri değişen aileler en çok çocuklarının yetersizliği ve nasıl eğitileceği hakkında bilgiye, maddi ve sosyal desteklere gereksinim duyduklarını ifade etmektedirler. ÖG çocuğa sahip ailelerin gereksinimlerini karşılayan ve onlara destek sunan önemli paydaşlardan biri özel eğitim öğretmenleridir. Bu nedenle, ailelerin ve ÖG bireylerin gereksinimlerini karşılayabilmeleri için özel eğitim öğretmenlerinin teoride ve pratikte donanımlı bir şekilde mezun olmaları gerekmektedir. Ancak özel eğitim öğretmenliği programının teorik olarak yoğun olmasına rağmen uygulamaya yönelik eksikliklerin bulunduğu ifade edilmektedir. Bu çalışmada farklı gereksinimleri bulunan ÖG çocuğa sahip ailelerle erken dönemde uygulamaya katılmak isteyen özel eğitim öğretmen adaylarını, gönüllülük çerçevesinde bir araya getirerek, ailelerin destek gereksinimlerinin ve öğretmen adaylarının uygulama gereksinimlerinin eş zamanlı olarak karşılanmasını sağlamak ve süreç sonunda aileler ile öğretmen adaylarının deneyimlerini ortaya koymak amaçlanmıştır. Yöntem: Araştırmada nitel araştırma yöntemlerinden fenomenoloji deseni kullanılmıştır. Araştırmaya ÖG çocuğa sahip 4 ebeveyn ve 4 öğretmen adayı katılmıştır. Yarı yapılandırılmış görüşmeler ve araştırmacı günlüklerinden elde edilmiş veriler, tematik olarak analiz edilmiştir. Bulgular: Süreçte yaşanılan deneyim, ailelerin gözünde öğretmen adaylarını birer abi, abla konumundan çıkarıp öğretmene dönüştürdüğünü ortaya koymuştur. Öğretmen adayları da kendilerini zamanla bir öğretmen gibi görmeye başladıklarını ifade etmişlerdir. Tartışma: Özel eğitimde yer alan paydaşların, gereksinimleri doğrultusunda bir araya getirildiği gönüllü eğitmenlik sürecinde her iki tarafın da ek yük üstlenmeden kazanımlar elde ettiği görülmektedir. Gönüllü eğitmenlik sürecine benzer süreçlerle özel eğitim öğretmenliği programında uygulama yoğunluğunun arttırılmasının yararlı olacağı düşünülmektedir.
Introduction: Special education teachers are among the important stakeholders who meet the needs of families of a child with special needs (SN) and support them. The present study aimed to bring together families of children with SN and different needs and special education teacher candidates who wanted to join the practice in the early period within the framework of voluntariness, to ensure that the support needs of families and the practice needs of teacher candidates were met simultaneously, and to reveal the experiences of families and teacher candidates at the end of the process. Method: The phenomenology design, one of the qualitative research methods, was used in the study. Four families of a child with SN and four teacher candidates participated in the study. The data obtained from semi-structured interviews and researcher diaries were analyzed thematically. Findings: The experience in the process revealed that in the eyes of families, teacher candidates were transformed from the position of an elder brother and sister to a teacher. Teacher candidates also indicated that they started to see themselves as a teacher over time. Discussion: It is observed that both parties obtain acquisitions without bearing any additional burden in the voluntary education process, in which stakeholders in special education are brought together in line with their needs. It is thought that it will be beneficial to increase the practice intensity in the special education teaching program with processes similar to the voluntary education process.
