Abstract:

Mechanical ventilation application at home is used in the treatment of phenomena that require full or partial ventilation support, clinic is stable, chronic respiratory failure. We presented the phenomenon of long-term mechanical ventilation applied at home. The 86-year-old man was taken to the intensive care unit after cardiopulmonary resuscitation after the development of sudden heart arrest in the clinic on the second day of the TUR-P operation (APACHE II Score:30, GKS:3). The incident had a history of congestive heart failure and chronic obstructive lung disease. The ventilator cannot be completely removed. After the eighth month in the YBU for the event of the ventilator-dependent, a mechanical ventilation program was planned at home. Before the case was sent home, the training of the person responsible for the specific needs needed in the treatment and the maturity of the fact was provided. Regular visits were made by the YBU specialist for the treatment of the acute attack of chronic obstructive lungs disease and physical examination. He died twenty-two months later. During this period, the support was required twice.
