Abstract This study investigates the preservation and transmission of Uyghur Muqam art through teaching materials at Xinjiang University, situated in Urumqi, China. The research objective is to investigate the preservation of Uighur Muqam art through teaching materials and transmission strategies in education in Xinjiang Province, China. The study employs a qualitative approach, utilizing interviews and fieldwork as data collection methods. Three expert practitioners, Professors Tumlis Msabayev, Gurigamira Kader, and Zhang Li, adopt distinct teaching approaches, highlighting variations in teaching materials, methods, and structure. While Professor Tumlis Msabayev prioritizes personalized materials, Professor Gurigamira Kader emphasizes foreign teaching resources, and Professor Zhang Li adopts a more structured approach. These findings suggest the need for standardized teaching materials, a student-centered teaching philosophy, enhanced professionalism, and improved material analysis. This research contributes to the discourse on Uyghur Muqam preservation and offers valuable insights for the development of effective teaching strategies.
