Late-preterm infants, defined as birth at 340⁄7 through 366⁄7 weeks’ gestation, are less mature than term infants. Because the size and weight of them are like some term infants, late-preterm infants may be treated by parents, caregivers, and health care professionals as though they are at low risk of morbidity. But they have more risks than term babies. The aim of this article is to describe the problems of late preterm infants.
