This article, which deals with the spelling of foreign words, terms and foreign proper names in Turkish, aims to guide the spelling of such words that need to be written in texts in accordance with the phonetic spelling preferred by the Turkish writing system and the phonetic features of Turkish. Although those who are sensitive to the preservation of the language oppose the use of foreign words and terms, these words (terms; names of people, places and works...) are frequently encountered in many texts (written, printed and video publications) today, including the Turkish Dictionary (TDK 2011), sometimes out of necessity (due to scientific necessities) and sometimes due to personal preferences. This study is limited to the spelling of foreign words, terms and proper names that need to be written in texts. It is, of course, the most appropriate for the sake of the language to prefer the Turkish version of a concept instead of its foreign-language equivalent; however, if the historical burden of foreign words that have settled in the vocabulary of the language is taken into consideration (reasons such as the connection between the past and the present, the different meanings that the word has gained in the language, the richness it adds to the expressive power of the language by showing the nuances between close meanings), the use of the settled words with the spelling they have settled can continue. In this article, there are proposals on the spelling of foreign words, terms and proper names that need to be transliterated/transcripted due to alphabet differences in scholarly texts, in the publication of old texts, and on the spelling of such words in today’s translations or scholarly writings.
This article, which is about the writing of foreign words, suffering and foreign special names in Turkish, aims to guide such words that are needed to be written in written texts to the vocal imala preferred by the Turkish writing system and to the writing in accordance with the vocal characteristics of Turkish. Those who show sensitivity regarding the preservation of the language, although they are opposed to the use of foreign words and suffering, sometimes because of the need (for scientific suffering) sometimes because of personal preferences today in many texts (written, printed, visual publications) - including the Turkish Dictionary (TDK 2011) - these words (for suffering, person, place and work names...) are often found. Your work in hand is limited to the imla specifications of writing of foreign words, suffering and special names required to be written in written texts. The preference of Turkish instead of the reward of any concept in the foreign language is of course the most suitable for the greeting of the language, but if the historic burden of the foreign words placed in the word existence of the language is taken into account (not breaking the connection between the past and today, the different meanings the word has gained in the language, the wealth of the language contributed to the expression power by showing subtle differences between the close meanings) the placed words can be used with the imla they placed in. In this article, the scientific texts, the ancient texts, include proposals on the display of foreign words, suffering and special names that are needed to be translated due to alphabet differences in the text system, and in today's translations or in the written scientific texts, the proposals on the introduction of such words.
