Abstract:

Introduction: The teacher performs positions and activities that go beyond his class schedule, negatively influencing his style and quality of life. Objective: to assess nutritional knowledge and the association with the anthropometric profile of elementary school teachers. Materials and Methods: This quantitative cross-sectional study evaluated, in 2019, 173 elementary school teachers from de Manhuaçu-MG through the application of the Nutritional Knowledge Scale (ECN), questionnaire of the sociodemographic profile and assessment of the Cintura Stature ratio (RCE). Simple logistic regression analyzes were used to associate the variables and the outcome considering a significance level of 5%. Results and Discussion: The mean age was 42.6 years, and the prevalence was female. Nutritional knowledge was moderate, and the anthropometric profile was overweight and obese in the majority (58.4%). Cardiometabolic risk was positively associated with males, the elderly and those who do not exercise. The age below 42 years stood out as a favorable factor in maintaining the eutrophic body profile. Studies with teachers have shown similar results in nutritional knowledge and many with overweight and obesity. It was observed in another study that evaluated cardiometabolic risk (RCE), a tendency to increase in the prevalence of risk with advancing age, as well as the present study, but with higher percentages of risk in women. Conclusion: Most teachers had moderate knowledge regarding nutrition, and it was not possible to verify an association between anthropometric profile and nutritional knowledge.
