Background and objective: Behavioral nutrition studies the relationship of individuals with food, which may directly interfere with the nutritional status, having as objective the present study, to evaluate the relationship between the nutritional status and the eating behavior of the employees of a state school in Gravataí-RS. Materials and methods: Cross-sectional study, being evaluated socioeconomic data, physical activity level and food behavior, by means of the ABEP, International Physical Activity and Dutch Food Behavior questionnaires, respectively. The participants' weight and height were also measured. Finally, an association between nutritional status and eating behavior was analyzed, together with their correlation to socioeconomic class and level of physical activity. Results: The sample consisted of a physically active population, with a mean age of 42.26 ± 7.77, represented by 70.4% of women. The most prevalent socioeconomic class was B2 and overweight prevailed, representing 59.2% of the participants. Discussion: Data relevant to those analyzed in the present study were included in the literature, reinforcing its efficacy. Conclusion: According to the data analyzed in this study, it can be confirmed that the excess of weight was associated to the alimentary behavior of emotional ingestion.
