Abstract:

Literary works have an important role in living the cultural values of society and transmitting these values to future generations. Literary works are aesthetic texts where the language is used effectively, but they are an important tool in the transfer of values that keep society together from generation to generation. As a literary type, the theatre texts and cultural values can be translated on a sensual basis. In this regard, the purpose of the research is to study Orhan ASENA's theatrical text "Mustafa" in the context of values education. In this context, the theatrical text called "Mustafa" in the research has been studied in the context of the values included in the social information course, which is the most comprehensive course in which value education is addressed. In this study in which the quality research approach is adopted, the data is obtained through the review of the document and analyzed through the content analysis. The study found that the fourteen values included in the social information curriculum were linked to the text. The most associated values with the dialogues in the text, respectively, are the values of patriotism, workforce, justice, solidarity, independence, sensitivity, freedom, responsibility, honesty, respect for family unity, and utility. The least associated values are respect, love, savings. There is no link between peace, scientificity, aesthetics, equality and values and the text. In light of the findings obtained, the conclusion was that Orhan Asena's theatrical text "Mustafa" could be used in the context of values education. Research results may be recommended to conduct research on alternative theatrical texts that can be used in the education of values.
