Abstract:

His life began in Girit, Hasan Bedreddin, who ended his life in Istanbul, is a Turkish monk who lived both the Imperial Period and the Period of Legacy and the first years of the new Turkish State. Hasan Bedreddin, a multi-cultural and linguistic intellectual who knows the East and the West well in those periods, is among the characters who have won his life with a pen. The absence of official life, the fact that a family of immigrants is a son, the confusion with other Hasan Bedreddin, the use of names in their works, etc. There was not enough information about his life in the sources. Sometimes he publishes his works with his own names and sometimes his own names. He has joined his works with other writers. The writer, which has fifty works, is famous for his police novel translations in the Western languages, his journalism’s books and popularity, and the French-Turkish dictionary that was published after his death. The writer has spoken to every part of society and to the clear part of society. In our work on the subject, the information available about Hasan Bedreddin’s life was given; authors, translations, joint translations were mentioned along with their bibliographic corners, and finally all the writer’s works were chronologically ranked.

Hasan Bedreddin, who was born in Crete and died in İstanbul, is a Turkish intellectual experiencing both despotism and Constitutional Monarchy period of Ottoman Empire, and the first new years of the Republic of Turkey. Hasan Bedreddin, who was a multicultural and multilingual intellectual and who knew the East and the West well, was one of the rare personalities of that period. Lack of civil service life, being a son of an immigrant family, mixing with other Hasan Bedreddin, using pseudonyms in his works and so on. Due to these reasons, sufficient information about his life could not be reached in the sources. He sometimes published his works using pseudonyms and sometimes with his own name. He has published some of his works together with other authors. The author is fifty one works; He is especially famous for his translations of detective novels from Western languages, his books brought about by journalism and popularity, and finally his French-Turkish dictionary was published after his death. In this study, information about the life of Hasan Bedreddin is given; copyright, translation and joint translations are cited together with their bibliographic tags, and finally all the works of the author are listed in chronological order.
