Abstract:

This study aims to reveal in the historical process the reflections of the industrial policies followed in Turkey and the work area of these national policies in the industrial sector in Gaziantep. In this regard, industrial policies in the country have been studied through written sources and literary scans. The reflections of industrial policies in Gaziantep, the leading industrial sectors, the impact of national policies on the sectoral basis, the official institutional data on the city's industry and the written and visual press sources have been studied.

In Turkey, industrial policies have begun to be shaped with the decisions taken in the Ottoman Period and the agreements made between the countries and have continued to show changes in the process to be achieved. The announcement of the Republic and the development of the industrial sector, which is seen as the locomotive of economic development, have shown special importance and legal regulations have been made. The process, which began with the İzmir Economic Congress in 1923, has changed over time. Gaziantep has since the Ottoman era the potential and location of Ipekyolu with the traditions of trade and the manufacturing traditions in the food and textile fields. Even in the first years of the Republic, when the national industrial policy and investments were carried out by the government's hand, the industrial development in the province was created by the local people's own possibilities and the industrial activities developed in the process and reached today. Currently, there are four OSBs and ten KSSs in different sizes throughout the province of Gaziantep. The industrial activities in the center of the province continue in the Başpınar OSB with five stages and an area of 4295 ha, in the KSS with an area of approximately 225 ha and in the Knaldı Region with the Nizip Street, the first settlements of the industry in the city.
