Uçak kiralama kavramı, uçak satın alma maliyetlerinin yüksekliği nedeniyle havayolu işletmelerinin başvurduğu bir finansman yöntemidir. Bu yöntem, havayolu işletmelerine uçak filosunu hızlı ve kolay bir şekilde genişletme imkânı sunarak esneklik sağlamakta ve aynı zamanda havayolu işletmelerinin nakit akışını korumalarına yardımcı olmaktadır. Uçak kiralama sektöründe yatırım yapmadan önce, sektördeki riskleri ve fırsatları dikkatlice değerlendirmek önem arz etmektedir. Özellikle küresel salgınlar, ekonomik krizler ve bölgesel çatışmalar dikkat edilmesi gereken riskler arasında yer almaktadır. Bu kapsamda, çalışmada, uçak kiralama sektörünün Covid-19 öncesi ve sonrası pazar analizi yapılmıştır. Bu amaçla, literatür taraması yapılmış ve önceki çalışmaların sonuçlarına dayanarak uçak kiralama sektörü hakkında bilgi toplanmıştır. Ayrıca, Covid-19 pandemisi sırasında havayolu endüstrisinde yaşanan gelişmeleri takip etmek için raporlar ve haberlerden oluşan güncel kaynaklar da kullanılmıştır. Yapılan literatür analizde, havayolu işletmeleri için uçak kiralama yönteminin avantajları, Covid-19 pandemisinin sektöre olan etkisi, pandemi sonrası sektördeki trendler ve değişimler ele alınmıştır. Analiz sonuçlarına göre, Covid-19 krizinin yol açtığı talep azalması nedeniyle geniş gövdeli uçak filosuna sahip birçok kiralama şirketinin önemli ölçüde zarar gördüğü belirlenmiştir. Buna karşılık, yeni nesil uçaklar ve dar gövdeli filoya sahip kiralama şirketleri Covid-19 krizi sırasında daha az riskli bir konumda bulunmuştur. Ayrıca uçak kiralama sektöründeki en büyük yeniliğin birleşme ve satın alma faaliyetlerindeki artış olduğu belirlenmiştir.
The concept of aircraft rental is a method of financing applied by airline operators due to the high cost of buying aircraft. This method provides flexibility by offering airlines the opportunity to expand their aircraft fleet quickly and easily, while also helping airlines maintain their cash flow. Before investing in the aircraft rental industry, it is important to carefully assess the risks and opportunities in the industry. In particular, global epidemics, economic crises and regional conflicts are among the risks to be taken into account. In this context, the study conducted a market analysis of the aircraft rental industry Covid-19 before and after. For this purpose, literature scan was done and information about the aircraft rental industry was collected on the basis of the results of previous studies. Furthermore, current reports and news sources were used to track the developments in the airline industry during the Covid-19 pandemic. In the literature analysis, the advantages of the plane rental method for airline companies, the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on the sector, the trends and changes in the post-pandemic sector were discussed. According to the results of the analysis, many rental companies with large-body aircraft fleets were significantly damaged due to the decline in demand caused by the Covid-19 crisis. On the contrary, new-generation aircraft and narrow-body fleet rental companies were in a less risky position during the Covid-19 crisis. It is also determined that the biggest innovation in the aircraft rental industry is the increase in the unification and purchase activities.

This method provides flexibility to airlines by offering them the opportunity to quickly and easily expand their aircraft fleet while helping them maintain their cash flow. Before investing in the aircraft leasing sector, it is important to carefully evaluate the risks and opportunities in the industry. Specifically, global pandemics, economic crises, and regional conflicts are among the risks that need to be considered. In this context, the pre- and post-Covid-19 market analysis of the aircraft leasing sector has been conducted in this study. For this purpose, a literature review has been conducted, and information about the aircraft leasing industry has been collected based on the results of previous studies. In addition, current sources consisting of reports and news have been used to monitor developments in the airline industry during the Covid-19 pandemic. In the literature analysis, the advantages of aircraft leasing for airlines, the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on the sector, and the trends and changes in the sector after the pandemic have been discussed. According to the analysis results, it has been determined that many leasing companies with wide-bodied aircraft fleets suffered significant losses due to the decrease in demand caused by the Covid-19 crisis. On the other hand, leasing companies with next-generation aircraft and narrow-bodied fleets were in a less risky position during the Covid-19 crisis. In addition, it has been determined that the biggest innovation in the aircraft leasing sector is the increase in mergers and acquisitions.
