Abstract:

The purpose of this study is to investigate the relationship beliefs and subdimensions of the time of marriage and the level of communication skills of married individuals. Another purpose of the study is to study whether married individuals’ communication skills, relationship beliefs differ according to gender and time of marriage. For this purpose, 400 married participants (238 women, 162 men) were included in the study, which was achieved by the accessible sampling method. Data collection tools have been used as Relationship Faith Inventory (IEE), Communication Skills Inventory (IEE) and Personal Information Form. Phase Multi-Regression Analysis is completed in two stages and two variables are important contributors in terms of their contribution to communication skills. In the first phase, the impatience, and in the second phase, the time of marriage contributes to the variation in relation to communication skills. The independent groups in which the communication skills of the married individuals according to gender, relationship beliefs differ or not, were tested by t-test; the communication skills according to the time of marriage, relationship beliefs differ or not, were tested by one-way variance analysis. If the one-way variance analysis is meaningful, the Tukey test from the post-hoc tests has been done to determine the meaningful difference between the groups, which differences between the groups are derived from. Relationship beliefs and communication skills according to gender have been shown to differ significantly, while relationship beliefs have been shown to differ significantly according to the time of marriage. The findings are discussed with literature.
