Abstract:

The quality of early life experiences is said to have an essential role in the construction of a person's self-structure, and this experience has an impact life. The study's major goal is to look at the function of autonomous self-management in mediating the relationship between self-object transfers and borderline personality traits. The relationship between the participants' selfobject, autonomy, and borderline personality patterns was explored in the study, along with characteristics such as gender, age, and educational position, to see if there was a significant relationship. A total of 400 adults, 47.8% (191) female and 52.2% (209) male, over the age of 18 participated in the study. The “Sociodemographic Form” prepared by the researcher, the “Self-Determination Scale”, the “Selfobject Needs Inventory”, and the “Borderline Personality Inventory” to determine borderline personality traits were used. According to the results, there is a significant relationship between autonomy, early object relations and borderline personality pattern. While borderline personality traits increased, the subscales of Self-Determination Scale, “self-contact” and “choicefulness”, decreased. As the borderline personality traits increase, the need for “avoidance orientation from idealization/twinship” increases and the need for “avoidance orientation from mirroring” decreases. As the need to “avoidance orientation from mirroring” increases, the autonomy of individuals increases, “avoidance orientation from idealization/twinship” decreases. In this study, Pearson Coefficient, Independent Samples T-test has been used, PROCESS 3.5 has been used.
