Abstract:

In this study, it is aimed to examine the environmental literacy of Sivas Cumhuriyet University students in terms of different variables. The environmental literacy scale consists of four sub-dimensions: knowledge sub-dimension, attitude sub-dimension, environmental behavior sub-dimension and environmental perception sub-dimension. Kolmogorov-Smirnov normality test was applied to determine which test to use in the evaluation of the data. T-test was used for two-category variables with normal distribution, and ANOVA test was used for variables with more than two categories. The Mann Whitney U test was used for the two-category variables that did not show normal distribution, and the Kruskal Wallis H test for the variables with more than two categories. In addition, in pairwise comparisons of normally distributed data, Tukey test was used if the groups had homogeneous variance, and Welch test was used if there was no homogeneous variance. 15.8% of the students are 1st grade, 35.3% are 2nd grade, 15.8% are 3rd grade and 33.1% are 4th grade students. In the study, students were 13.07±2.70 from the knowledge sub-dimension of the environmental literacy scale, 70.53±9.08 from the attitude sub-dimension, 41.41±6.34 from the environmental behavior sub-dimension, and 10.76±1.87 from the environmental perception sub-dimension. In the study, it was concluded that environmental literacy sub-dimensions differed significantly according to different variables such as gender, class, age, and place of residence, but it was not affected by some variables such as mother's working status, education status, income level.
