Abstract:

Alanya, take place southern coast of Anatolia, has been settled by people since Paleolithic Age. There are scarcely any traces of settlement belong to Neolithic, Chalcolithic and Bronze Ages. According to learned from the Hittite documents, Alanya was within the lands of the Lower Country & Tarhuntašša during the Hittite Period. The region was dominated by Lydians and then by Persians in the Iron age. Alanya was battlefield in struggle between Alexander’s commanders. The pirates exploited from this war environmet for get strong. The Roman dominated began at Alanya after Pompeius’s victory against to pirates at Coracesium port.Alanya was the border of Cilicia and Pamphylia during the Roman Period. Syedra, Laertes and Coracesium came into prominence in the Roman dominate. Roman emperors prosperoused to Coracesium and it’s vicinity starting from Roman dominate in region. The imperial cults was create for some empires because of this prosperous activities. Syedra took stand with Septimus Severus for his struggle against to Pescennius Niger. They honoured by emperor thanks to this attitude. The localization suggestions were made relation with Hittite settlements besides to examination of political, socaial and religious situation of Alanya and it’s near vicinity according to archaeological and writing sources in this article.
