Özet:

Abstract The milestone in Physical Education journalism was in the 30s, along with the creation of the field itself.  In almost 90 years of existence, more than 35 journals have been created, with different areas of focus. Since the first decade of the 21st Century, there has been an intensification of the scientific activity, as well as an appreciation of scientific journals, placing them among the main agents in PE.  In order to discuss the subject, this text was divided into two parts: In the first part, based on the data available on the websites, I describe the characteristics of the 12 main journals of Brazilian Physical Education. In the second, I discuss some of the main dilemmas involving their scientific editing based on my editorial experience, as well as on a review of the existing publications on PE. In the conclusion, I indicate that that the journalism in the area of PE has become consolidated and internationalized since the first decade of the 21st Century and that it has been seeking editorial professionalization.
