This paper tackles the approach of Risale-i Nur in evidencing issues pertainingto religious doctrine. It attempts to demonstrate the reasoning adopted by Nursi in hispersistent endeavour to establish faith in hearts. The paper adopts the analyticalmethodology to achieve its aim through contextual analysis of the content of Risalei Nur.The paper stresses the reasoning and contemplative attributes and characters ofNursi and his through knowledge of the Islamic heritage at both levels of revelationand reason. This gives him a unique ability to come up with stunning arguments. Thepaper finds that the sources of knowledge of Nursi and the approaches he adopts toaffirm faith in Allah and what follows of unseen and unknown can be divided intotwo main parts: the first includes sources subject to reason and logic includingphilosophical and Islamic theology (ilm al-kalam) while the second includes what isnot subjected to reason and logic including contemplative visionary which pertains tomystic approaches. Therefore, we could name the first set of knowledge sources as primary sourcesas they lead to accept faith through convincing arguments and evidence while thesecond set could be known as secondary sources as they only emerge to persons offaith through divine inspiration which in turn foster faith.Imam Nursi adopted a comprehensive approach benefiting from methods ofmystics, theologians and philosophers. However, he deals with these diverse methodsin a critical manner that reflects the effect of Holy Quran in the methodology and aimof Risale-i Nur of fostering the truths of faith. The paper also reflects the position of Imam Bediuzzaman Said Nursi as a leadingreformist in the field of Islamic Thought and in particular in the domains of theologyand linguistic interpretation of the holy Quran.
