In this study, it was aimed to determine factors affecting preservice primary teachers’ attitudes toward factors related to reading and writing instruction. The study adopting both qualitative and quantitative research methods were carried out according to the enrichment and explanatory design, one of the mixed methods. The study group was composed of the preservice primary teachers studying at the Basic Education Department of the Faculty of Education at Uludag University. In the study, the data were collected via the Attitude Scale for Primary Read-and-Write and also six open-ended questions. In the analysis of the sub-factors of the Attitude Scale total scores, was made via the SPSS 22 package program. In the analysis of the qualitative data, each open-ended question were gathered under themes and the sub-themes of these themes were formed. The results of the study show that preservice teachers show positive attitudes towards primary-read-and-write course and atttitude score averages are significantly different from course achievement at a moderate level.
