Purpose: In 2013-2018 Bolu Abant Izzet Baysal University, Izzet Baysal Education and Research Hospital Medical Microbiology Laboratory from clinics sent with suspicion of cystic ekinococcus (KE) serum samples anti-Echinococcus granulosus (E. granulosus) Ig G seropositivity rate is intended to be determined. Instruments and Methods: A total of 644 patients sent blood samples from clinics with the method of indirect hemaglutination (IHA) (Echinococcosis Fumouze, Fumouze Diagnostics, France) were studied anti-E. granulosus IgG antibodies according to the manufacturer's company's instructions. In the IHA test, the ≥1/160 serum titles were considered positive. The results of the test are retrospective. Results: 386 of the patients were female (59.9 percent), 258 male (40.1 percent) and patient samples were sent from the clinic of general surgery (51.5 percent). Seropositivity was diagnosed in 68 (10.6%) of 644 patients. Of the 68 patients diagnosed seropositivity, 42’s (61.8 percent) were female and 26’s (38.2 percent) male. Seropositivity was observed at 11.8% in the ≤20 age group, 27.9% in the 21-40 age group, 26.5% in the 41-60 age group and 33.8% in the >61 age group. The result: In our study, the seropositivity in suspicious patients was 10.6%. In the period 2013-2018, the frequency of observations per year, age groups and gender has not been statistically determined in the seropositivity of KE.
Aim: In 2013-2018, it was aimed to determine the anti-Echinococcus granulosus (E. granulosus) Ig G seropositivity rate from serum samples sent to Bolu Abant İzzet Baysal University, Izzet Baysal Training and Research Hospital Medical Microbiology Laboratory with suspicion of cystic echinococcosis (CE). Material ve Method:Blood samples sent from the clinics from a total of 644 patients were carried out using the indirect hemagglutination (IHA) (Echinococcosis Fumouze, Fumouze Diagnostics, France) method, according to the manufacturer’s instructions, anti-E Granulosus IgG antibodies were investigated. Serum titers ≥1/160 were considered positive in the IHA test. Test results were analyzed retrospectively. Results: 86 of the patients were female (59.9%) and 258 were male (40.1%). Patient samples were sent mostly from the general surgery clinic (51.5%). Seropositivity was found in 68 (10.6%) of 644 patients. Of 68 patients with seropositivity, 42 (61.8%) were female and 26 (38.2%) were male. CE seropositivity rate was 11.8% in the ≤20 age group, 27.9% in the 21-40 age group, 26.5% in the 41-60 age group, and 33.8% in the> 61 age group. Conclusion: In our study, seropositivity was found to be 10.6% in patients with suspected CE. There was no difference in CE seropositivity between 2013-2018 according to years, age groups and gender.
