Abstract:

The Covid-19 pandemic has affected our country in many areas, as in the world’s countries. In these areas the educational institutions are affected. As in all countries, the influence of pandemic in our country has been attempted to conduct educational activities through distance education. The purpose of this research is to study the professional achievements and problems of the teachers of science in the distance learning process of the Covid-19 pandemic period. To this objective, research has used the phenomenological (fenomenological) design from the quality research methods. The research was carried out with 10 scientists working in the province of Van. The method of sampling is easily accessible for the determination of participants. In the collection of data, a semi-configured interview form developed by researchers was used. Interviews with teachers were carried out through "Zoom" due to pandemic. The data is analyzed by visual and content analysis method. Scientific teachers have pointed out that the distance learning approach under the Covid-19 pandemic has contributed to professional development. Teachers have expressed that they have learned how to use many computer programs, software and hardware effectively. However, teachers have stated that they have faced two major problems in the process of distance learning, the teacher and the student. Teachers have been determined to be insufficient in using the technological tools used in distance learning. Students have been unwilling to participate in the distance learning process and students have trouble accessing the computer/internet. This has led to a low motivation in students because it makes it difficult for students to participate in the class.
