Abstract:

The aim of this study is to compare the performance points of the players in the remaining four-finals (Final Four) teams in the history of the Euroleague according to both domestic and foreign players and the players' positions. The study examined the performance points of the players in the teams that played a total of 18 season four final from the 2000-2001 season, the nationalities of these players and the position they played. The normality analysis of the data was carried out by Kolmogorov Smirnov test, comparisons of domestic and foreign players by independent sampling T test. In comparison of two separate multiple groups, one-way variance analysis (One Way Anova) was used. The level of reliability was considered 0.05. In total, 333 domestic and 472 foreign basketball players were studied in 7 seasons with statistically significant differences in favour of foreign basketball players, while in other seasons there was no differences in terms of nationality between domestic and foreign players, while there was no differences in terms of players' positions. There was also a significant difference in nationality between domestic and foreign basketball players playing in number 1 in the 2003-2004 and 2004-2005 seasons, number 3 in the 2007-2008, 2009-2010 and 2011-2012 seasons, and number 1 and 3 in the 2015-2016 and 2018-2019 seasons. As a result, it is clear that high-quality local players can be successful at the highest level and the teams need to pay more attention to their infrastructure.
