Kentsel açık ve yeşil alanlar, ekolojik ve estetik değeri arttırmada, insan ile doğa arasındaki bozulan ilişkiyi dengelemede ve kent ekosistemindeki biyolojik çeşitliliği korumada önemli bir yere sahiptir. Düzce kent merkezi içerisinde bulunan açık ve yeşil alanlarını teşkil eden park, meydan, yaya ve araç yolları kamusal ve özel bahçeler, mezarlık ve ibadethane bahçeleri gibi farklı mekânsal karakteristiklere sahip alanlarda gerçekleştirilmiş olan bu çalışmanın temel amacını kentsel açık ve yeşil alan sistemleri içerisinde önemli bir değere sahip odunsu bitki çeşitliliğinin kent içerinde ortaya koymuş oldukları değerlerinin belirlenmesi oluşturmaktadır. İşlevsel durumları ele alınmış olan odunsu bitki çeşitliliğinin sahip oldukları estetik ve ekolojik değerler mekânsal düzeyde ele alınmıştır. Toplamda 173 bitki türünün tespit edildiği araştırma sonuçlarına göre kavşaklarda kullanılan türler estetik değeri ortaya koymasına karşın fonksiyonel açıdan mekânın karakterine yanıt verememektedir. Kentin en önemli ve yoğun kullanılan parklarından olan İnönü parkı zengin tür çeşitliliği ile dikkat çekmektedir. Düzce kenti açık yeşil alanlarında Cupressocyparris leylandii ve Tilia tomentosa en çok rastlanan türlerdir.
Urban open and green spaces play an important role in increasing their ecological and aesthetic value, balancing the distorted relationship between man and nature and preserving the biological diversity in the urban ecosystem. The main objective of this study, which is carried out in areas with different spatial characteristics such as public and private gardens, cemetery and worship gardens, which constitutes open and green spaces within the city center, is to determine the values of the wood plant diversity with a significant value within the urban open and green spaces systems that they have shown within the city. The aesthetic and ecological values of the variety of wood plants which have been addressed on the functional conditions have been addressed on a spatial level. According to the results of the study, 173 species of plants were identified; the species used in the crossroads, although they show aesthetic value, functionally cannot respond to the nature of the space. The Inönü park, one of the most important and intensely used parks in the city, attracts attention with its rich variety of species. Cupressocyparris leylandii and Tilia tomentosa are the most common species in the city's open green areas.

The main purpose of this study, which was carried out in areas with different spatial characteristics such as parks, squares, pedestrian and vehicle roads, public and private gardens, cemetery and places of worship, constituting the open and green areas in the city center of Düzce; determining the values of woody plant diversity, which has an important value in urban open and green area systems, within the city. The aesthetic and ecological values of the woody plant diversity, whose functional states have been discussed at the spatial level. According to the results of 173 researches; Although the species used in intersections show aesthetic value, they cannot functionally respond to the character of the place. Inonu Park, one of the most important and extensively used parks of the city, attracts attention with its rich variety of species. Cupressocyparris leylandii and Tilia tomentosa are the most common species in the open green areas of Düzce.
