Bu çalışmanın amacı spor bilimleri fakültesinde okuyan öğrencilerin bazı parametrelere göre ölüm algılarının araştırılmasıdır. Yaşar Doğu Spor Bilimleri fakültesinde okuyan öğrencilerinden 161 kadın ve 347 erkek öğrencinin doldurmuş olduğu 24 maddelik ölüm algısı ölçeği değerlendirilmiştir. İstatistiksel işlemler olarak student t- testi, tek yönlü varyans analizi ve LSD testleri kullanılmıştır. Bu çalışmada Öğrencilerin cinsiyete göre yaşları benzer iken, boy uzunluğu ve vücut ağırlıkları birbirinden anlamlı şekilde farklıdır (p<0,001). Cinsiyete göre olum algısına bakıldığında ödüllendirme ve terk etme alt boyutlarında anlamlı farklılık bulunmuştur (p<0,05 ve p<0,001). Başarısızlık, cesaret, bilinmeyen ve açı çekme alt boyutları ile toplam ölçek puanında cinsiyete göre anlamlı bir farklılık bulunmamıştır (p>0,05). Bizim çalışmamızda kadınların erkelere benzer duygular göstermesinde ortak kültür ve benzer din anlayışı yanında spor eğitimi almanın veya spor yapmanın etkisi olduğu düşünülebilir. Bu çalışmada Korona virüs hastalığı geçirip geçirmeme durumuna göre ölüm algısı puanları karşılaştırılmasında istatistiksel olarak önemli bir farklık tespit edilmemiştir (p>0,05). Öğrencilerin okudukları bölüme göre ölüm algısı puanları karşılaştırılmasında istatistiksel olarak terk etme, cesaret, açı çekme alt boyutları ve toplam ölçek puanlarında istatistiksel olarak anlamlı farklılık bulunmuştur (p<0,05). Öğrencilerin spor kategorisine göre ölüm algısı puanlarının karşılaştırılmasında ödüllendirme, terk etme ve toplam ölçek puanlamasında anlamlı farklılık bulunmuştur (p<0,05). Son 5 yıl içerisinde akrabası ölenlere göre ölüm algısında terk etme alt boyutunda anlamlı farklılık bulunmuştur (p<0,05). Sonuç: Korona virüs sürecinde spor eğitimi alan öğrencilerin ölüm algısı cinsiyete, korona virüs hastalığı geçirip geçirmeme durumuna, Okuduğu bölüme, spor kategorisine ve akrabalarının ölme durumuna göre çok az farklılık gösterdiği sonucuna varılmıştır. Bu çalışma sonuçlarına göre korona virüs sürecinde genel olarak ölüm algısının değişmediğini söyleyebiliriz. Korona virüs sürecinde spor yapanlar ile spor yapmayan öğrencilerin ölüm algısı karşılaştırılması önerilir.
The aim of this study is to investigate the death perceptions of students studying at the faculty of sports sciences according to some parameters. The 24-item death perception scale filled by 161 female and 347 male students studying at Yaşar Doğu Faculty of Sports Sciences was evaluated. Student t-test, one-way analysis of variance and LSD tests were used as statistical procedures. In this study, while the ages of the students were similar according to gender, their height and body weights were significantly different from each other (p<0.001). Considering the perception of death by gender, a significant difference was found in the sub-dimensions of reward and abandonment (p<0.05 and p<0.001). There was no significant gender difference in the sub-dimensions of failure, courage, unknown and angst, and the total scale score (p>0.05). In our study, it can be thought that the effects of taking sports education or doing sports, as well as a common culture and similar religious understanding, on women's showing similar feelings to men. In this study, no statistically significant difference was found in the comparison of death perception scores according to whether or not they had Corona virus disease or not (p>0.05). When comparing the death perception scores of the students according to the department they studied, a statistically significant difference was found in the sub-dimensions of abandonment, courage, angst and total scale scores (p<0.05). When comparing the death perception scores of the students according to the sports category, a significant difference was found in rewarding, abandonment and total scale scoring (p<0.05). A significant difference was found in the abandonment sub-dimension in perception of death compared to those whose relatives died in the last 5 years (p<0.05). Conclusion: It was concluded that the perception of death of the students who received sports training during the corona virus period differs very little according to gender, whether they have had a corona virus disease, the department they studied, the sports category and the death status of their relatives. According to the results of this study, we can say that the perception of death in general has not changed during the corona virus process. It is recommended to compare the death perception of the students who do sports and those who do not do sports during the corona virus period.
