Abstract:

In this study, energy efficiency was investigated by revealing the energy consumption values for heating purposes of the three faculty buildings where educational activities are carried out on the central Rahva campus of Bitlis Eren University. The temperature and illuminance levels of the indoor environments were measured in the existing buildings. Thermal camera images of the exterior facades of the buildings were taken. As a result, it has been determined that the biggest heat loss among the building components in all buildings occurs in the windows. Natural gas is a more economical and environmentally friendly fuel than coal. It has been observed that the heating energy requirement per unit usage area in the Faculty of Engineering and the Faculty of Arts and Sciences is above the standard limit value. The measurements have shown that the indoor temperature values in all buildings are above the standard limit value and the heating systems are not operated efficiently enough. Insulation and sealing problems were detected on the exterior of the buildings and some building components from the thermal camera images.
