Abstract Introduction and Aim: Ottoman Hilal-i Ahmer Society was founded in 1877. This society gave care and treatment services for hundreds of thousands soldiers who injured and had disease in all wars that Ottoman was as a part of it. These services were given by with hospitals at backside of frontage with support and help of public, patient carrying services, hospital ships, nurses who trained and voluntary care givers. The aim of this study is to examine the organization of the Karamürsel Hilal-i Ahmer Society and the health services offered in the region until the end of the War of Independece. Material and Methods: This study was based on the Red Crescent Archive documents obtained from Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality Archives between November 2014 and March 2015. The documents were transcribed by Mr. Oğuz Polatel. However, the literature has also been reviewed. Results: There are some documents about that Karamürsel Hilal-i Ahmer Society was founded in 1914, but it had activities before. It is seen that information about the founding members of the society, employees’ salaries, hospital staff, number of beds and the materials used are also included in the documents. Conclusion: It is understood that Karamürsel Hilâl-i Ahmer Society primarily has provided treatment and care services to soldier who wounded and sick on the battleground in tents and hospitals as it was carried out by other branches of the society. Besides this, the society has strived eliminate of the nutrition and housing problems of the people of the region which are affected by the war and challenging with epidemic diseases.
