Abstract:

Data envelopment analysis (DEA) is a practice that makes no assumptions about the data and compares the relativistic efficiency of decision-making units (DMUs) with similar characteristics. This study compared the efficiency of 24 public libraries in Konya using a method called DEA. DEA used the following inputs to measure the efficiency of public libraries: the number of books, the number of books entered, and the number of staff. The outputs measured were the number of readers, the number of materials lent, and the number of library members. In this manuscript, CCR model was benefitted. The model was solved by MaxDEA software. The DEA technique revealed that four public libraries were effective. This means that these libraries were using their inputs in the most efficient way possible to produce their outputs. The other 20 public libraries were inefficient, which means that they could improve their efficiency by using their inputs more efficiently. Significant variations in efficiency have been identified among the public libraries in Konya. This could result from factors like the competence of library personnel, resource accessibility, and the extent of demand for library services. The findings of this research can be applied to enhance the effectiveness of libraries and deliver improved services to their users. Efficient libraries can serve as a model for inefficient libraries. Inefficient libraries can identify areas where they can improve their efficiency and implement the necessary changes.
