Türkiye Türkçesinin zarf-fiil ekleri arasında yer alan {- y ArAK} ekinin kökeni hakkında Meninski’den 1680 başlayarak pek çok Türkolog görüş bildirmiştir. Ekin kökeni hakkında daha fazla görüş bulunmasına rağmen ikisi öne çıkmıştır. Bunlardan biri, ekin {- y A} zarf-fiil eki ile {+rAK} kuvvetlendirme ekinin birleşmesiyle; diğeri ise, geniş zaman sıfat-fiil eki { U r}/{- A r} ekiyle {±OK} enklitiğinin birleşmesiyle meydana geldiğini ileri sürmektedir. [geniş zaman sıfat-fiil eki+edat] şeklinde bir açıklama Türkçenin etimolojik prensipleri çerçevesinde kabul edilemez. Bu ek, mevcut bir zarf-fiil ekinden başka bir gramer unsuru tarafından işlev yenilemesi neticesinde ortaya çıkmış olmalıdır
