Abstract:

The human-space relationship has preserved its importance throughout history and continues to preserve it today. Social, cultural, economic, political, etc. All human experiences are formed by the space. Therefore, the place is of great importance in the appearance, development and continuation of these experiences. In this context, it is possible to say that the space is not only a physical phenomenon but also the determiner of social dynamics and relationships networks. In the space of people emerging depending on the decision-making of the place social relationships are established and the impact of the place also develops these relationships. Cities, which are in constant change and transformation during the historical process, are now trying to be transformed by external interventions. With the most important urban policy of the recent period, urban transformation projects, whether in our country or in the world, cities are faced with an intense transformation intervention. Practices implemented for different reasons, on the one hand, change the cities physically, while on the other hand, cause the daily lives of the city residents to change. When it comes to interference in the areas of life, the towns may have a negative attitude towards urban transformation practices. This study will discuss David Harvey’s approach to the spatial phenomenon in general. Then again, in the Harvey axis, the city, space, housing concepts and urban transformation practices will be briefly evaluated. After the study of the local relationship of the elderly individuals, an assessment will be made on the results of the field research with people aged 60 and older living in the districts of Tepe, Sinan and Karasenir, which is said to be exposed to urban transformation in the Burdur province, and the views of the interlocutors on urban transformation concepts and urban transformation projects will be shared.

Social relations, which emerge as a result of people's choice of location, are established within the space and these relations develop with the influence of the space. Cities, which have been in constant change and transformation in the historical process, are trying to be transformed by external interventions today. With urban transformation projects, which are the most important urban policies of the recent period, cities in our country and in the world are facing an intense transformational intervention. On the one hand, the practices implemented for different reasons change the cities physically and on the other hand, they cause daily lives of the residents to change. When it comes to intervention in living spaces, it is possible for citizens to take a negative attitude towards urban transformation practices. This study will generally focus on David Harvey's approach to the phenomenon of space. Then, urban, space, housing concepts and urban transformation applications will be briefly evaluated on the basis of Harvey. After examining the location relationship of the aged individuals, an evaluation will be made on the results of the field research conducted with people aged 60 and over who live in the neighborhoods of Tepe, Sinan and Karasenir, which are stated that they will be exposed to urban transformation in Burdur province. The opinions of the interviewees regarding urban transformation projects and urban transformation projects will be shared.
