Abstract:

Andalusia in modern Turkish literature Abstract This article discusses the image of Andalusia in modern Turkish literature written in Arabic script (1839-1928).It provides an overview of the relationship between Ottomans and Andalusia that goes back to the time of mystic sheikh Ibn Arabi. And it chronicles the subject of Andalusia in the Turkish literature in the so-called period by mentioning the most important writers who talked about Andalusia in their literature writings. This article examines the causes of the of authoring on Andalusia and its manifestations in their literary works interpreted in the light of historical circumstances that were experienced by the Ottoman Empire. Turkish writers found in Andalusia what enforces them to defend Islamic sevilaisation against western attacks. Andalusia was a way to inspire Ottomans who were in deteriorated situation. Andalusia end was lesson because of the similar elements between Andalusia and the Ottoman Empire. It also presents an image of Andalusians and the Spanish people in the given literary works. Generally the image of Andalusians seemed bright but the image of Spanish people was negative.
