Anahtar Sözcük: Adenoidektomi Tonsillektomi Ses analizi ABSTRACT Aim: The ability to communicate using voice is one of the most important characteristics that distinguishes human beings from all other living things. The aim of this study is to investigate the effects of adenoid and tonsil hypertrophy on voice characteristics by performing pre- and postoperative sound analysis in patients undergoing adenoidectomy and adenotonsillectomy. Material and Method: A total of 30 patients were included in the study. 15 patients age between 8 and 17 that were indicated adenoidectomy surgery and 15 patients ages between 8 and 24 that were indicated adenotonsillectomy surgery were included in the study. Acoustic data of the patients were recorded in a sound protected room by the same physician one day before the operation and 3 weeks after the operation. The acoustic parameters of the sound recordings were evaluated on a personal computer using the Praat software. Results: When all the patients in the study group (n = 30) and all female patients were analyzed according to the time, changes in the preoperative and postoperative sound parameters were statistically significant (p <0.05). When changes in preoperative and postoperative sound parameters of male patients (n = 10) were analyzed, only the decrease in volume was found statistically significant. Conclusion: In patients with adenoidectomy and adenotonsillectomy, changes in vocal resonance may indicate changes in acoustic analysis parameters and be used as objective data. More extensive studies are needed to determine which acoustic analysis parameters may be more specific in adenoidectomy and adenotonsillectomy patients. Abstract:

The ability to communicate using its voice and voice is one of the important features that distinguishes humanity from all other beings. The purpose of this study is to study the effects of adenoid and tonsil hypertrophy on the sound characteristics by performing pre- and post-operative sound analyses in patients with adenoid and adenotonsylctomy surgery. Tools and Methods: The study included a total of 30 patients, including age 8 to 17 patients and age 8 to 24 patients, including age 8 to 17 patients. The acoustic data of the patients was recorded by the same doctor one day before the operation and three weeks after the operation and in a sound-protected room under fixed conditions. The acoustic parameters of the audio recordings were assessed on a personal computer using the Praat wire. Results: All patients in the working group (n=30) and girls patients, when all sound records are analyzed over time, changes in preoperative and postoperative sound parameters are statistically meaningful (p<0,05). In patients with adenoidectomy and adenotonsillectomy, the change in vocal resonance indicates that there may be changes in the parameters of the acoustic analysis and that it can be used as objective data. More comprehensive studies are needed to determine which of the acoustic analysis parameters may be more specific in patients with adenoidectomy and adenotonsillectomy.
