Abstract:

Athletes may be exposed to someoral problems such as various injuries, dental erosion, dental coloring and dental fractures. Muntazam oral hygiene behaviors are possible to protect them from the accumulation of these problems. Our study a group of licensed swimmers aims to compare oral hygiene habits and oral hygiene conditions with the age of non-interested by regulating the sport.In all of Turkey, 217 swimmers and control groups who are licensed interested in swimming sports and participated in our study by seeking the condition that any sport branch of the same age group is not concerned with the sport. The participants were filled in survey forms containing questionable questions to determine their oral hygiene behaviors, clinical assessment measurements were made.Platch index and gingival index were used for measurements. The swimmers were between the ages of 11-23 and the age range of the control group was 12-20.The oral hygiene habits of the test group were better than the control group. In the clinical examination, 3 scores for the plaque index that determines the intense plaque or calculus presence were statistically recorded significantly in the control group. Similarly, the gingival index 2 and 3 that showed the presence of bleeding in the teeth found that ‘n’s statistically significantly recorded in the control group.
