Gilbert Durand’ın les Structures Anthropologiques de l’Imaginaire (İmgelemin Antropolojik Yapıları) adlı yapıtında önerdiği imgeleri/simgeleri/arketipleri sınıflandırma, dolayısıyla imgelemi çözümleme modeli bir kişinin (bir yazarın, sanatçının) ya da toplumun, toplumu oluşturan bireylerin düşünme, inanma, yaşama biçimleri olduğu kadar genel olarak insan zihnini kavramada temel bir kavramsal alan ve model sunma arayışıdır. Bu nedenle, Gilbert Durand antropoloji, toplumbilim, psikanaliz ve psikoloji, dinler tarihi, mitoloji, folklor gibi uğraş alanlarının verilerinden yararlanarak değişik imge, simge ve arketipleri sınıflandırır. Bunu yaparken belli bir toplumsal grup üzerinde odaklanmadan, eski olduğu kadar yeni kültürel ve düşünme biçimlerini, uygarlıkları karşılaştırmalı bir perspektifte ele alarak değişik kültürlerin, toplumların, bireylerin yarattıkları imgelem biçimleri arasındaki benzerlikleri ve ayrımları ortaya koymak ister. Önerdiği sınıflandırma modelinde imgelerin/simgelerin “aydınlık ve karanlık düzen/yapı” başlığı altında sınıflandırmasını yaparak işleyişlerini ve işlevlerini kavramaya uğraşır. Belli bir toplumun dünyayı kavrama, sunma, temsil etme biçimine gönderme yapan imge ve simge, söz konusu edilen toplumun her türden sanatsal, kurgusal, metinleştirilmiş folklorik ürünleri aracılığıyla, özel olarak toplumu temsil edenlerin yanında, genel olarak insan düşüncesinin işleyişini kavramaya olanak sağlar. İmge, tek bir şeye gönderme özelliğiyle, bireysel belirlenimleri yanına kültürel belirlenimler eklenerek evrensel bir değer kazanabilmektedir. Bir simge değeri taşıdığından, her imgenin rastgele anlamlar yüklenmek yerine anlamı bağlamsal kullanımlarla güncellenmektedir bu yolla kökensel anlamının değişik dönemlerde sürdürülmesine olanak sağlanır. Şu ya da bu kültürün, toplumun yarattığı imge ve simgelerin biçimsel ve anlamsal değerlerini kavrayabilmek için sınıflandırılmaları yanında, sınıflandırmaya yön veren temel izleğin ve yöntemin bilinmesi gerekir. Bir başka anlatımla şu ya da bu toplumun düşünme biçimini, gerçeklik algısını bilimsel düzeyde ve nesnel bir biçimde belirlemeye olanak sağlayan belli bir yöntemin verilerinden yararlanmak bir zorunluluktur. İmgelem çö-zümlemelerinde mitolojinin, eski ya da yeni değişik ülke kültürlerinin ve folklorlarının verilerinin sıklıkla kullanıldığı bilinmektedir. Gilbert Durand hem mit çözümlemelerinde hem de ona bağlı imgelem çözümlemelerinde folklorik ve kültürel içeriği kullanarak sözünü ettiğimiz imge, simge ve arketip sınıflandırmalarını yapar. Bu yazının sınırları içerisinde önerdiği tüm sınıflandırmaların bir listesini çıkarmak, anlamsal değerlerini açıklamak olası olmadığından, çözümleme modelinin uçlarından birisi olan, imgelemin aydınlık düzendeki yapıları içerisinde gündeme gelen hayvan simgeselliği üzerinde kısaca duracağız. Amacımız benimsenen yöntemin ve içeriğin işleyişine dönük birkaç belirleme yaparak mitoloji, kültür tarihi, folklor gibi alanlardan derlenen imge ve simgelerin sınıflandırılma biçimine ya da mantığına yönelik kimi ipuçları vermektir. Böyle bir çalışma Gilbert Durand’ın folklorla olan ilgisini açıklamak yanında sınırlı da olsa folklorik içeriğin imgelemsel çözümlemelerine yönelik yöntemsel kimi veriler sunmayı hedeflemektedir.
The classification of images/symbols/archetypes proposed by Gilbert Durand in his work, Les Structures Anthropologiques de l'Imaginaire (The Anthropological Structures of the Image) is thus an attempt to present a basic conceptual field and model in the general understanding of the human mind as well as the thinking, beliefs, ways of life of a person (a writer, an artist) or of the society, the individual who forms the society. Therefore, Gilbert Durand classifies different images, symbols and archetypes by taking advantage of the data of the fields of anthropology, sociology, psychoanalysis and psychology, religious history, mythology, folklore. In doing so, without focusing on a particular social group, he wants to identify the similarities and differences between different cultures, societies, and the forms of image created by individuals, addressing the new cultural and thinking forms as old as well, civilizations in a comparative perspective. In the suggested classification model, he tries to understand their function and function by classifying the images/symbols under the title "light and dark order/building". The image and the symbol that sends a particular society to the way of understanding, presenting, representing the world, through all kinds of artistic, fictional, texted folkloric products of the society concerned, in addition to those who represent the society in particular, enables to understand the functioning of human thought in general. The image can gain universal value by adding cultural determinations to its individual determinations, by sending it to one thing. Since a symbol has a value, the meaning of each image is updated with contextual uses instead of charging random meanings, which allows the meaning of the root to be kept in different periods. In addition to the classification of this or that culture, in order to understand the formal and meaningful values of the images and symbols created by society, the basic follow-up and method of classification must be known. In other words, it is mandatory to take advantage of the data of a particular method that allows the way of thinking of this or that society to determine the perception of reality in a scientific and objective manner. It is known that the data of the mythology, the old or new different country cultures and folklore are often used in the desert collections. Gilbert Durand makes the image, symbol and archetype classifications we are talking about using folkloric and cultural content in both myth and related imaging solutions. Since it is not possible to draw a list of all the classifications it suggests within the limits of this article, to explain their meaningful values, we will briefly stand on the animal symbolism, which is one of the ends of the analysis model, which is scheduled within the structures of the image in the light order. Our goal is to give some clues to the way or logic of classification of images and symbols collected from fields such as mythology, cultural history, folklore by making a few determinations towards the functioning of the adopted method and content. Such a study is aimed at explaining Gilbert Durand’s interest in folklore, but it is also aimed at providing methodological data for the imaginary solutions of folklore content, though limited.
