Sialorrhea is the condition charactarized with the accumulation of excessive quantitities of saliva at the front portion of mouth and dribbling of this saliva from the mouth and occurs due to the defect of swallowing mechanism coordination. This condition frequently seen in children with cerebral palsy and chronic neurological disease causes a social problem for the child and his family and affects their life quality significantly. Various treatment methods such as oral motor therapy, behaviour modification by biofeedback, oropharyngeal regulation therapy, medical treatment, radiotherapy and surgical treatment are reported in the literature. There is also minimal invasive management alternatives such as botulinum toxin injection, photocoagulation. As a surgical treatment option, submandibular (Wharton) canal relocation is a safe and effective procedure with low morbidity rates. Submandibular canal relocation performed in a 15-year old mentally handicapped child with sialorrhea is presented in this report.
