Bu araştırma ile yükseköğretiminde Türkiye’yi tercih eden ve işgücü piyasasında yer alan uluslararası öğrencilerin çalışma koşullarına dair deneyim ve sorunlarının ortaya koyulması amaçlanmıştır. Araştırmada nitel araştırma desenlerinden durum çalışması, veri toplama aracı olarak ise yarı yapılandırılmış görüşme formu kullanılmıştır. Derinlemesine mülakat tekniğinin kullanıldığı bu çalışmada farklı bölüm ve eğitim seviyelerinde olan 12 uluslararası öğrenciye ulaşılmıştır. Çalışma grubu belirlenirken amaçlı örnekleme yöntemlerinden ölçüt örnekleme kullanılmıştır. Ölçüt örneklemede Bandırma Onyedi Eylül Üniversitesinde okuyan, farklı ülkelerden gelmiş ve çalışan ya da Türkiye’ye geldiğinden beri en az bir işte çalışmış uluslararası öğrenciler seçilmiştir. Araştırma verileri ATLAS.ti 9 nitel veri analizi programında içerik analizi yapılarak incelenmiştir. Araştırmaya göre öğrencilerin ekonomik yetersizlik, dil becerilerini arttırmak ya da tecrübe kazanmak gibi nedenlerle ağırlıklı olarak hizmet sektöründe yarı zamanlı işlerde çalıştıkları gözlenmiştir. Ancak öğrencilerin vasıf gerektirmeyen düşük ücretli, uzun çalışma saatlerini içeren işlerde çalıştığı, işverenler tarafından kimi zaman ücretlerinin tam ödenmediği de araştırma neticesinde tespit edilmiştir. Araştırmanın sonucunda ise, öğrencilerin eğitim için Türkiye’yi ve okuduğu üniversiteyi tercih etmeleri, çalışma hayatına katılmaları, çalışma koşulları ve Türkiye’ye uyumları ile ilgili en büyük belirleyicinin ekonomik etkenler olduğu ortaya çıkmaktadır.
This research aims to reveal the experience and problems of international students who prefer Turkey in higher education and are in the labour market on the working conditions. In the research, the status study from the quality research patterns was used as a means of data collection and a semi-configured conversation form. In this study, in which the deep interview technique was used, 12 international students, who are at different departments and educational levels, were achieved. The study group has been used for measuring sampling methods for the purpose. International students who have studied at the University of Bandırma Onyedi September, who have come and worked from different countries or have worked at least one job since they have arrived in Turkey have been selected. The research data is atlas. The 9th edition of the data analysis program is based on the content analysis. The study found that students worked in part-time jobs mainly in the service sector for reasons such as economic insufficiency, improving their language skills or gaining experience. However, the research has found that students work in low-paid, long-time work hours that do not require qualifications, and that employers sometimes do not pay their wages in full. The study finds that the major determinant for students to choose Turkey and the university they study for their education, their participation in work life, their working conditions and their conformity to Turkey are economic factors.
This study was conducted to determine the experiences and problems of international students during their process of higher education and employment in Turkey. The case study method as a qualitative research design and semi-structured interview form were used as data collection tools during this study. In this study, an in-depth interview technique was used. The 12 international students from different educational levels and departments participated in interviews. The criterion sampling from a purposive sampling method was used in the study. In criterion sampling, international students of Bandırma Onyedi Eylul University who have a current job or had at least once since coming to Turkey were selected. The research data were analyzed in ATLAS.ti 9 qualitative data analysis program by doing content analysis. According to the research, it has been observed that students generally work part-time jobs in the service sector because of economic reasons, improving language or gaining experience. On the other hand, as a result of the research, it has been determined that the students work in low paid jobs and long working hours that do not require any qualifications where even they have not fully been paid by their employers sometimes. As a result of the research, in the case of Turkey, it is revealed that economic factors are the prominent determinant of students' educational and academic preference for university and country, participation in the job market and their working conditions and also adaptation process.
