Özet:

OBJECTIVE: In this study we aimed to compare complication rate, recurrence, time to return to work and healing in marsupialization, primary repair and Limberg flap repair group operated for sacrococcygeal pilonidal sinus disease. METHODS: This is retrospective study that 164 patients operated for pilonidal sinus disease in the department of 5th General Surgery of Ankara Training and Research Hospital, between January 2004 - January 2009. There were 30 patients in primary repair group (group 1), there were 67 patients in marsupialization group (group 2) and there were 67 patients in Limberg flap group (group 3). The groups compare about sex, age, postoperative abscess, seroma, dehiscence, necrosis of flap, time of dressing, recurrence, time of recurrence and time of return to work and hospital stay. RESULTS: There were statistical significant difference according to time of hospital stay, dehiscence and time of recurrence. In Limberg flap group time of hospital stay was longer than the other groups. In primary repair group dehiscence rate was higher than in Limberg group, and in marsupialization group time of recurrence was longer than the other groups. CONCLUSION: In Limberg group; complication occured lower than in primary repair group. Also in Limberg group dreesing time was shorter than the marsupialization group. These are the advantages of Limberg method. In our opinion; the method of surgery for pilonidal sinus disease must be common conclusion of surgeons and patients.
