Abstract:

Purpose: Study and compare Parkinson patients in the direction of the retina nerve fiber layer (RSLT) and macula thickness with the healthy control group Method: The average age of the patients diagnosed with Parkinson was 69.2±8.2 years and the average age of the patients with a systemic disease history was 67.2±7.1 years. Patients received optical coherence tomography (OKT) with RSLT and macula thickness measurements. The groups were compared with the Student t test in terms of the data obtained. The inferior square was 133.1±19.3 μm in the RSLT Parkinson group and 145.1±19.6 μm in the control group. This review in the lower scale RSLT found statistically meaningful (p=0,049). There was no difference between the group in the RSLT and macula thicknesses of the other square. The result: In our study, we found a decrease in the thickness of RSLT of the inferior square in Parkinson’s patients. The decrease in the amount of dopamine in the retina in patients with Parkinson may lead to the loss of ganglion cells, causing the examination of the RSLT thickness.
