Abstract:

Herakleia Pontike Ancient City is today a port settlement located within the boundaries of Zonguldak, the Black Sea Ereğli district. The sheets that make up our location are located in the Black Sea Ereğli Museum and in the place known as the Cemetery of Hell, in the Cemetery Church. It is necessary to know the places where the sheets are first to be able to fully understand the fields of use and functions. The research has shown that sheets are more used in religious structures. Usually in churches, as well as organizations such as templon, ambon, solea, horses, kiborium, cathedra, the native distinctions, entrance sections, balconies, or galleries are placed between columns and parts. Depending on the areas they use, the sheets processed with one or two faces generally contain plant, geometric and figurative decorations. In addition to religious structures, there are also examples used in civil structures in Byzantine architecture. The sheets we detect are made of marble and stone material. In pieces, bubbling, cutting and cutting techniques are seen, similar to the examples of the Bithynia and Paphlagonia Region. In this study, Herakleia Pontike sheet examples were addressed and evaluated by their parallels.
