Diabetes mellitus is a risk factor for coronary arter disease significantly. We investigated the effect of type 2 diabetes mellitus on risk score of coronary arter disease that measured with HP-75 calculator in this study. Ninety-eight women patients aged over 50, followed up between 2004 to 2005, were included in the study. Fifty (51 %) patients were diabetic, 48 (49 %) non-diabetic (control group). Cases who were normotensive and had normal lipid values were excluded. BMI and body fat percentages of all patients were recorded. Age, sex, systolic and diastolic blood pressure, total cholesterol, HDL cholesterol, smoking and diabetes mellitus were parameters that used for measure risk score of coronary artery disease with HP-75 calculator for ten years. Risk of coronary arter disease fort ne years in diabetic and control groups compared with tests of chi-square, student t and pearson correlation test. The mean age was 63.7±6.6; VKİ was 29.5±4.3, VYY 34.2±6.3 in the study group. The mean age was 65.7±10.5; VKİ was 32.4±5.0, VYY 35.3±7.7 in the study group. VKİ in the control group was higher than diabetic group (p<0.01). The risk of coronary arter disease in study group was higher than control group (20±6, 11.9±4.7; p<0.001, respectively). The association between VKİ, VYY with KAH were not significantly (p=0.79, p=0.33, p=0.44, respectively). Diabetes mellitus increases the risk of coronary artery disease fort ne years that was measured by calculators used frequently independent of other parameters, two times.
