Abstract:

Traditional applications are methods found root in traditions and transmitted from generation to generation. Traditional health practices include practices that affect the health of society’s beliefs, traditions, values and cultures. Traditional practices are more common in non-developed and developing countries while being applied in many parts of the world. It is seen that women use a variety of traditional health practices pre-born, birth order and post-born. Traditional applications related to pre-gravity period are often aimed at the treatment of infertility, genital tract infections and gender determination during pregnancy. Some of the traditional practices are beneficial to health, while some can be harmful to health. It is very important to know the cultural structure of society in the presentation of health services. Knowledge of traditional practices regarding pregnancy, birth and late birth period will help to determine the priorities in health care that will be provided to families in this period. The modification of these practices, demonstrated by nurses with concrete examples of the damage to physical, mental and social health of the wrong traditional practices, is important for the protection of women’s health. In this collection, the traditional practices and practices of nursing in the pre-gravity period will be discussed in the light of current data.
