Abstract:

Personality is a phenomenon that is affected by the society in which individuals live, it can be effective in shaping perceptions and attitudes. For this reason, the perception and attitude of the local people living in touristic destinations can affect the development of tourism in the region positively or negatively. In this context the aim of this study is to investigate the effects of personality traits of local people on their perception of tourism effects. The population of the study consists of the province of Antalya and the sample consists of the districts of Döşemealtı, Muratpaşa, Kepez and Konyaaltı. The quantitative research method was used in the research and the survey method was used in the collect of the data. In this context, 389 questionnaires collected were analyzed with SPSS 22 package program. Arithmetic mean and standard deviation values were found to determine the personality traits and perception levels of the participants about tourism effects. In addition, correlation analysis was used to calculate the relationships between variables, and multiple linear regression analysis was used to determine the predictive levels of independent variables for dependent variables. In this context, it is seen that the personality traits of the local people give significant effect on the perception of the economic, social and cultural effects of tourism. On the other hand, ıt has been determined that the personality traits of the local people do not have a significant effect on the perception of the environmental effects of tourism.
