Abstract:

For humans, childhood covers a universal age period. The importance of this period was understood in some societies early, while in some societies this process was later understood. The idea that the child should be systematically educated, especially in Western societies, has formed the foundation of child education and literature. Thro history, Croatian Children's Literature, which is on the transition route from the Balkans to Europe, began in the 17th century, but the most important works began to be given in the late 19th century. The literature of the Croats with strong historical ties is unknown in Turkey. But with the contribution of the Rijeka Croatian-Turkish Association and the Turkology Department of the Faculty of Philosophy of the University of Zagreb in 2014, the children's novel "The Extraordinary Adventures of Çırak Hlapić" was translated into hundreds of languages by Ivana Brlić Mažuranić in 1913. The novel, printed by Nesin Publishing Children's Paradise Library, continues to sell. The aim of the study is to evaluate children’s education, along with the internal and external structural characteristics of the children’s novel “The Extraordinary Adventures of Çırak Hlapić”, which was written by Ivana Brlić Mažuranić in 1913 and translated into hundreds of languages, and to introduce the first children’s novel of Croatia. In this study, the historic development of Croatian Children's Literature was studied, the novel "The Extraordinary Adventures of Çırak Hlapić" "the external structure and interior characteristics, the conformity to the basic educational principles." This study is an illustrative research and is based on the method of document examination in the study. The 9-12-year-old group, which is the target reader in terms of the novel's external and internal structural characteristics and educational principles, is considered to be suitable for the child.
