OBJECTIVE: The aim of the current study was to develop Attitude Scale for Caregiver Role of The Nurses (ASCRN) and to perform its validity and reliability tests METHODS: Administration of the scale was done with 162 nurses who were selected using random sampling method out of 400 nurses. The data were expressed item analysis, correlation analysis, Cronbach’s Alpha validity coefficient, Kendall W test, Kaiser Meyer Olkin and Barlett’s Test, principal components analysis and factor analysis methods. RESULTS: it was seen that there was no statistically significant difference between the points of the experts (P>;0.05) which indicated that reliability of the scale was established in terms of language and content. Cronbach’s Alpha value of all items of the scale was 0.906. İtems whose the item-total score correlation was lower were removed from the scale and internal consistency was assessed, Cronbach’s Alpha value did not differ significantly. İt could be clustered into three subscales because percentages of variance explained of each subscale were found to be close to each other after factor rotation. CONCLUSION: It was concluded that the scale was very reliable, each item made positive contributions to the reliability and average correlations of inter-items were satisfactory or good.
