The aim of this study is to determine the relationship between the repetitive sprint ability (TSY), isochinetic leg strength (IBK) and anaerobic performance (AP) of football players. The study included 13 elite male football players (age: 24.38±2.46 years) voluntarily. Futsal players' linear repetitive sprint ability (D-TSY) and direction-changing repetitive sprint ability (YD-TSY) are measured by 6x25m and 6x(2x12,5m) repetitive sprint tests, respectively. The best sprint time for the players' distances of 0-12,5m, 12,5-25m and 0-25m, the total sprint time and the average sprint time, the performance decrease percentages have been identified. Futsal players' IBK, (60o.sn-1, 120o.sn-1 and 180o.sn-1 speeds with isochinetic dynamometers), AP was measured using active and squat jump tests. The Pearson Correlation analysis found a meaningful relationship between anaerobic power and 120o right knee extension force (r=0.598; p<0.05), 120o right knee flection force (r=0.563; p<0.05), 180o left knee extension force (r=.647; p<0.05), 180o right knee extension force (r=.568; p<0.05). The best sprint time obtained during repeated sprint tests, with regard to the overall sprint time and average sprint time and performance decrease values, has been determined that there is no relationship between D-TSY and YD-TSY at all distances (p>0,05). As a result, it can be said that the foot strength values of football players play a decisive role in anaerobic performance but are not effective for TSY.
The purpose of the present study was to investigate the relationship between repeated sprint ability, isokinetic knee strength and anaerobic performance in futsal players. 13 male futsal players (age: 24.38± 2.46 years) participated in this study voluntarily. Repeated sprint ability (RSA) with and without change-of direction (COD) were determined by 6x25m and 6x(2x12.5m) repeated sprint test respectively At the end of repeated sprint tests, best sprint time, total sprint time, mean sprint time and percentage of performance decrement were calculated. Peak isokinetic knee extension and flexion torques at 60º.s-1, 120º.s-1and 180º.s-1 were determined by isokinetic dynamometer. Counter movement jump test (CMJ) and squat jump (SJ) were used for anaerobic power. The results of Pearson Correlation analysis, CMJ was significantly correlated with 120º right knee extension torque (r=0.598; p<0.05), 120º right knee flexion torque (r=0.563; p<0.05), 180º left knee extension torque (r=.647; p<0.05), and 180º right knee extension torque (r=.568; p<0.05). On the other hand, best time, total time, mean time and percentage of performance decrement of RSA with and without COD were not significantly correlated with any of the measured performance variables (p>0.05). In conclusion, the findings of the present study indicated that leg strength plays important role in anaerobic performance in male futsal players.
